Whitsundays sailing trip - anchors away!

Hoist the sails at the Whitsundays

Our 3 day Whitsundays sailing trip will take you across the Great Barrier Reef on a yacht. The predominantly uninhabited tropical Whitsundays Islands are sometimes nothing more than a few sandbanks, and other times overgrown with dense rainforest. However, they are always surrounded by a dreamy deep blue sea. You can choose between our standard version of our Whitsundays sailing trip (where you'll stay in a shared cabin and shared facilities) and our upgraded version, on a more luxurious ship with your own double cabin. Snorkelling equipment is included for use at some of the most fascinating, colourful coral reefs you'll ever see. At the end of each day, the tropical night will treat you to cool breezes and a sky filled with twinkling stars.

Day 1: Whitsundays sailing trip

You'll check into your hotel and arrange your own transport to the Airlie Beach harbour. Excess baggage can potentially be left behind at your accommodation in Airlie. Before you head out on the boat, you can visit the ‘bottle shop’ for a few alcoholic beverages (preferably cans, no glasses), since you won't be able to get alcohol on board. Departure time depends on the boat you choose to sail with. If you choose the standard version, the boat departs at 13:00. If you choose the upgrade, you'll set sail at 8:30. Naturally the exact route for both ships isn't determined until the trip actually takes place. The actual route depends on weather conditions and the preferences of the participants. In any case, you'll visit the most beautiful places such as Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet and naturally there will be plenty of opportunities to go snorkelling on the reef.

Day 2: Sailing in the Whitsunday Islands

As your Whitsundays sailing route isn't set in stone, we can only give you an idea of what this day will hold. Around 8:00, you'll have breakfast and the opportunity to swim. At 10:00, you'll sail for 1 or 2 hours to a snorkelling location or a deserted beach. At 12:00, you'll have the chance to see coral reefs and at 13:00 you'll stop for a bite of lunch. At around 14:30, you'll sail for another 1 to 2 hours to your next location. There will be several other yachts at this location, so you can share your experiences with other travellers during your Whitsundays sailing trip. Finally, at around 19:30 you'll settle down to a savoury dinner and a few drinks with an unforgettable starry heaven above you. No worries, the daily schedule isn't too tight.... after all this is a holiday! If you would like to go diving as well, it's best to let us know at the time of booking your Whitsundays sailing trip. This way, we can make sure all the necessary equipment is available for you. Diving however is only possible on our standard yacht.

Day 3: Whitsunday Islands - Airlie Beach - End of trip

During the last day of your Whitsundays sailing trip, there's still plenty of time for sailing, snorkelling and relaxing. By the way, if you would like to help sail the yacht, the crew would love to show you the ropes. Around noon, you'll reach the Abel Point Marina at Airlie Beach and arrange your own transport back to your accommodation where you'll spend one more night. The following day, you'll travel on from Airlie and further along the east coast.

This Whitsundays sailing trip connects perfectly with our Fraser Island camping tour or our Rainforest and reef drive.
