Day 1: Arrival in SydneyFlights from the UK usually arrive in the evening and as you step off the plane, the realisation will probably sink in that you're on the other side of the world. Your Australia adventure has begun! Most Australia travellers start their journey with a Sydney sightseeing tour in the most famous city of the southern hemisphere. You'll be picked up at the airport and taken to the city, where a room will be waiting for you at our favourite hotel in Sydney. Since most travellers arrive in Sydney in the evening, you'll probably want to freshen up a bit and then head out for dinner at Darling Harbour. You can walk straight out of your hotel into this famous harbour district with its restaurants, terraces and bars. After dinner, you'll probably start to crash fast. An early night will do wonders for you the following day.... and you'll be ready to take on Sydney by morning. |

Day 2: SydneyToday, you'll wake up on the other side of the world. After a lovely breakfast (excluded) it's time to explore Sydney. The Sydney Opera House is the obvious first stop on any Sydney sightseeing tour. The only way to see the interior of the Opera House is by buying a ticket to a performance. It's not cheap, but we can help you find the right show if do choose to catch one. While you're at the Opera House you'll see the Harbour Bridge before you. For approximately £85, you can climb the bridge with a guide. Obviously, you'll have to feel up to it and you may be slightly jet-lagged today. That's why we recommend simply going up to the towers to admire the view instead. Afterwards, you can walk past the Opera House into the Botanical Gardens. The gardens are filled with all kinds of Australian trees, flowers and plants. A great place to have lunch is Hyde Park, right in the middle of the city. After lunch you'll have another hour to look around and perhaps to go shopping at Paddington market. |
Sydney harbour sunset dinner cruiseAt 16:30 you'll walk from your hotel to Circular Quay at the harbour (a 5-minute walk), where a boat will be waiting to take you on your sunset dinner cruise. You'll glide through Sydney harbour as the sun sets and dine on a delicious three course meal with excellent local wine. The Sydney skyline is at its best during sunset, so make sure you keep your camera at the ready. You'll be back at the dock around 18:30. If you would like to end the evening in style, you can visit a show at the Sydney Opera House after the cruise. |

Day 3: Sydney - End of tour
If the weather is good this morning, you may want to visit Bondi Beach. Without a doubt, this is the most famous laid-back sandy beach in Australia and it has plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs. This is the place where young locals come together and stroll across the boulevard. It's also the place to try some surfing lessons, when the weather permits, from a genuine 'surfer dude'. |
TipsTaronga ZooThis is probably one of the most beautifully situated zoos in the world. Taronga Zoo is located a half hour boat ride from the city. You'll head out from the city's harbour to the zoo's pier. The zoo is home to all of Australia's indigenous animals, but it is also home to many other exotic animal species. While visiting the giraffes you'll have an excellent view of Sydney's skyline. Sydney Tower This tower is 260m tall and therefore the highest building in all of Australia. If you would like to enjoy the panoramic view out over the entire city, the harbour and green countryside surrounding Sydney, a visit to Sydney Tower is well worth the effort. The 'Oz Trek' in the tower takes you on a virtual tour of Australia and gives you an idea of what you can expect during the rest of your trip. Food and drink Sydney is home to people from more than 200 nationalities and therefore also offers the largest variety of cuisine in all of Australia. The city, Darling Harbour, Kings Cross, Bondi and Manly are filled with restaurants. The popular neighbourhoods MarrickVille and Dulwich Hill both radiate very friendly, warm atmospheres and have lively streets filled with exotic food stalls. In China Town you'll find a bounty of Chinese, Indian and Vietnamese restaurants. For the best fish you don't want to miss a visit to the Sydney Fish market. In other words, the culinary options are endless... |
