Dingos and billabongs on Fraser IslandExperience an adventurous 3-day guided Fraser Island tour by 4x4 on the world's largest sandbank. The 120km by 5km island was declared a World Heritage Site in 1993. On the island you'll find dense tropical jungle, endless eucalyptus forests, deserted beaches and rare wildlife like the wild dingo. Cool off with a dip in one of the 200 crystal clear lakes across the island or take a walk along the broad, dazzlingly white beaches.The average age on this 3-day guided Fraser Island tour is between 20-35, but all ages are more than welcome. All you need is a sense of adventure and an average fitness level. If you'd prefer to explore Fraser Island with a more varied group, we can also offer a shorter, 2-day tour. |

Day 1: Hervey Bay - guided Fraser Island tourThis morning you'll be picked up at your hotel and taken to Urangan Harbour where you'll catch the ferry to Fraser Island for the beginning of your guided Fraser Island tour. As soon as you arrive on the island, your sandy adventure will begin as a 4x4 truck takes you straight across the island to Basin Lake. Here you can take a walk around the lake in search of the many turtles that live here. Next you'll drive on to Central Station, not actually a station but a peaceful ancient rainforest that was once a thriving forestry camp.At Wanggoolba Creek go for a walk along the small creek that winds its way through dense rainforest and giant ferns. On the way you'll stop off for a filling picnic lunch. In the afternoon you'll visit Pile Valley with its towering satinays and Lake McKenzie. The spectacularly clear blue lake is surrounded by white beaches, is an enticing place to go for a swim. Late afternoon you'll arrive at the comfortable lodge where you'll be staying for the next two nights. Bed linen is included. After the buffet dinner you can sit outside under the starry sky and share stories your fellow travellers. |

Day 2: guided Fraser Island tourFraser Island was named after the wife of a captain who was ship-wrecked here in 1836. In the 1970s, the island was home to clashes between environmental protectionists and a mining company. Luckily, those trying to protect the environment won and the island remained preserved for all to enjoy.On Day 2 of your guided Fraser Island tour you'll visit some of island's best natural highlights. Driving across the densely vegetated island interior you'll arrive at 75 Mile Beach. Here you can check out the Maheno shipwreck, the Coloured Sands, go swimming in Eli Creek and the Champagne Pools and spot sharks, stingrays and humpback whales at Indian Head (from July - November). On the way you'll be treated to another fresh picnic lunch. This evening back at the lodge round off the day with a buffet-style dinner. |
Day 3: Fraser Island - Hervey Bay - End of guided Fraser Island tourToday you'll head to Lake Wabby, an emerald green lake and also the deepest lake on Fraser Island. After a refreshing swim in the clear waters you can climb up Hammerstone Sandblow, a collossal sand dune that flanks Lake Wabby. From the top of the dune you'll have some spectacular views across the lake. Next stop is the Eurong Beach Resort. At the pool bar overlooking 75 Mile Beach you'll be treated to a proper Aussie BBQ lunch.After lunch you'll drive on to Lake Birrabeen, yet another turquoise coloured lake surrounded by dazzling white sands. You can spend the rest of the afternoon splashing around in the clear blue water. Towards the end of the afternoon you'll catch the ferry back to Hervey Bay. From here you'll be dropped off back at your hotel, marking the end of your guided Fraser Island tour. |
