Dingos and billabongs on Fraser IslandExperience an adventurous 3-day 4x4 Fraser Island camping tour on the world's largest sandbank. The 120km by 5km island was declared a World Heritage Site in 1993. Accompanied by a professional ranger, you'll head out into the island's dense tropical jungle. You'll come across many extraordinary animal species such as the wild dingo. You can cool off with a swim in one of the 200 crystal clear lakes or relax in the shadow of a large eucalyptus tree. Look up, and you may even see a koala bear hiding between the branches. You'll trek through the island in search of idyllic locations such as the Champagne Pools and Happy Valley. You'll sleep in comfortable camping tents by the beach. If you step out of your tent in the evening, you'll feel the warm sands of the beach beneath your feet and look out at the Pacific Ocean by moonlight. |

Day 1: Hervey Bay - Fraser Island camping tourThis morning you'll be picked up at your hotel and taken to Urangan Harbour where you'll catch the ferry to Fraser Island for the beginning of your camping tour.As soon as you arrive on the island, your sandy adventure will begin as a 4x4 truck will take you straight across the island to Lake Allom. After a picnic on the shores of the lake, you can take a walk around the lake to look for the many turtles that live here. Afterwards you'll visit Knifeblade Sandblow and the famous 75 Mile Beach. While at this beach, you can visit the Maheno shipwreck, go for a swim at Eli Creek and visit the Coloured Sands. A comfortable deluxe tent will be waiting for you at the end of the day, complete with bed linens. After dining at camp, you can sit beneath the pitch black sky scattered with stars and share stories with your fellow travellers or read a good book in your tent portal. |

Day 2: Fraser Island camping tourFraser Island was named after the wife of a captain whose ship wrecked here in 1836. In the 1970s, the island was home to clashes between environmental protectionists and a mining company. Luckily, those trying to protect the environment won and the island remained preserved for all to enjoy.Today, you'll visit Indian Head, Champagne Pools and Orchid Beach, and there will be plenty of time for walking and swimming. Sometime in the afternoon, you'll return to camp where you can relax for a bit, explore the area surrounding camp on foot, go fishing, or simply do nothing at all.... it's up to you. This evening you'll be able to enjoy a traditional Aussie bbq. |
Day 3: Fraser Island - Hervey Bay - End of Fraser Island camping tourToday you'll cross over 75 Mile Beach on your way to Lake Wabby, the deepest emerald green lake on Fraser Island. After a refreshing swim, you'll head out to Happy Valley for a tropical buffet lunch at the Fraser Island Wilderness Retreat. In the afternoon, you'll take a hike through the Yidney Scrub Rainforest where you'll be able to enjoy the peace and quiet as well as the many, many bird species at Lake Garawongera.Late in the afternoon, the ferry will take you back to Hervey Bay. As soon as you arrive, you'll be taken to your hotel where you can reminisce on an enjoyable adventure in the sands. |

Don't forget to bring along: TIP 1: In August, September and October, humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to more northern regions along the coast. It's a truly beautiful sight to watch these giants swim by. We can make reservations for you to go on a whale cruise leaving from Hervey Bay for £63 per person. |
