Day 2 Cairns - Cape TribulationTogether with a number of other travellers that booked the Cape Tribulation tour for today, you'll set off along a winding coastal road that follows the green coast of Queensland. You'll head north to the rainforests towards the popular coastal town of Port Douglas to visit the Rainforest Habitat. This wildlife sanctuary is home to native wildlife like the cassowary and tree kangoroo. You'll have time to explore the Habitat on your own. Next you'll continue on to Mossman Gorge in the southernmost tip of Daintree, the oldest National Park in Australia. After an excellent lunch you'll board the ferry to your accommodation. |
|
Late afternoon you'll arrive at your accommodation, a cosy jungle cottage close to the beach. Cape Tribulation is reputedly the only place in Australia where the rainforest reaches right up to the beach, and from your cosy jungle cottage it appears to be true. Your cottage is surrounded by rainforest but at the same time it's just steps away from the beach. Once you've settled in and freshened up, go for a walk along the white beach and take in the spectacular scenery. You can also head further into the jungle, there's a creek nearby where you can swing from the lianas Tarzan-style. Even though there are no crocs here (hopefully), taking a dip in the middle of nature seems pretty adventurous, especially when you've got tiny fish nibbling your toes. |

Day 3 End of Cape Tribulation tourDuring the boat ride you'll have a chance to go snorkelling - all necessary equipment is on board and can be used free of charge. You'll see amazing coral, thousands of colourful fish and rare sea turtles. You can also go for an introductory dive (surcharge to be paid on the spot). If you are a certified diver, be sure to bring along your certification. For lunch, you'll be treated to an elaborate lunch buffet with plenty of fresh fruit (included). Afterwards you can lounge on deck and sunbathe. Towards the end of the afternoon the boat will head back to Cape Tribulation and you'll be taken back to Cairns. If you want to spend another night in the rainforest at Cape Tribulation, you can book an additional night. Instead, After breakfast you'll have the rest of the morning to enjoy the beach or explore the jungle around Cape Tribulation before you're transferred back to Cairns around lunch time. You could ask your driver to drop you off at Palm Cove where you can spend a few days on the stretches of beach along the Pacific. Afterwards, spend the night in Cairns and then start off on an Australia self-drive holiday along the east coast or enjoy an East Coast Australia adventure with a group of international travellers and let someone else do the driving. |
