Day 1 - 3: Sydney arrivalSydney is a charming, carefree, trendy metropolis that has something for everyone. Sydney is a dash of London, a smidgeon of New York, a sprinkling of the Mediterranean and quite a bit of Asian spice mixed with an Australian 'no worries' feeling and year-round delightful temperatures. So what to do while in Sydney? Well, go on a harbour cruise in one of the most beautiful harbours of the world, admire the remarkable architecture of the Sydney Opera House, stroll through the various city neighbourhoods, go for a picnic at Bondi Beach, visit the famous surf beach Manly, go shopping at the Rocks..... there's so much to do, we're sure you won't have time to do it all. |

Day 4-12: Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide (by campervan)Today you'll arrange your own transport to the campervan hire office in Sydney (Mascot, about 8km from the airport and open starting at 8:00). After you've filled out some paperwork and you've had a chance to try out the campervan (this should probably take about an hour), it's time to hit the road. Along the way you'll be able to camp out at several camping sites. More information on which campsites you can use will be provided with your travel documentation. We recommend travelling through Leura, Cooma and Albury on route to Melbourne and then travelling from Melbourne through Apollo Bay and Warnambool to Adelaide. On day 12 you'll drop off your camper at the campervan hire office in Adelaide before 17:00. You'll spend the night in a centrally located hotel in Adelaide. |
Day 13: Adelaide - Flight - Alice SpringsToday you'll go to the airport for a flight to the red heart of Australia, Alice Springs. You'll have plenty of time to look around the city. Alice Springs was founded in 1871 as a sub-station for the telegraph line from Adelaide to Darwin. The 'Todd' River is named after the head of the postal service at that time, Mr. Charles Todd. The city was named after his wife, Alice. The city became a tourist hub in the 60's. The area's top attractions are the steep gorges of Standly Chasm, Simpson's Gorge and Anzac Hill, which gives you an incredible view of the city. You can also visit the Flying Doctors Service, the historic telegraph office and the ANZAC war monument. For those without fear of heights, go on a short hot air balloon ride above Alice for an incredible panoramic view of the desert. |

Day 14-23: Alice Springs - Darwin (by campervan)Today at 8:00 you'll pick up your second campervan of this trip at the campervan hire office, approximately 4km from the centre of the city. Once you have your campervan you can head straight towards Ayers Rock for a magnificent sunrise. Afterwards you'll continue on via Kings Canyon back to Alice Springs. From here you'll travel north and you'll stop off in Tennant Creek, Mataranka, Katherine Gorge and naturally, Kakadu National Park. Your campervan trip ends on day 23 at the car hire office in Darwin (before 17:00). After dropping off your campervan, you'll spend the night in a hotel in Darwin. Naturally you can extend your stay here if you wish to. |
Day 24: DarwinDarwin is the capital of the Northern Territory. It's literally in the middle of the tropics. You'll see palm trees, you'll feel the tropical heat, you'll see rotating ceiling fans on verandas and you'll see how life is much slower here than you may be accustomed to. The city was almost completely demolished after a cyclone in 1974. The new rebuilt city has a very young and active atmosphere. Everywhere you look you'll see travellers of every nationality, along with many locals of Aboriginal and Asian decent. Before leaving Australia and flying back home, enjoy the tropical atmosphere and stock up on a few last-minute souvenirs. |
